The Motorcycle Diaries
Simply written, beatifully crafted. An intelligent, understated travel journal written with heartfelt honesty and poignancy. The Ernesto before he was El Che, captured in his own words.
This is the travel diary of Guevara's eight-month long journey across Argentina, Chile, Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela. He was a 23-year-old medical student in 1951-52 when he undertook this journey with Alberto Granado on La Poderosa II. The book mixes lyrical observation, youthful adventure and his political analysis in a poetic and simplistic way unque to El Che.
Nothing is hidden and all his love, disdain is right in this book in black and white. You may or may not like Ernesto after this book, but you'll like the book nonetheless.
